What makes your products clean?
The Free + True Collection is formulated without parabens, phenoxyethanol, sodium laurel sulfates, denatured alcohol, synthetic fragrances, endocrine disruptors, carcinogens, or toxic chemicals of any kind. We follow guidance provided by EcoCert and the Natural Products Association.
What is the shelf life of your products?
Free + True skincare products are manufactured We recommend storing your products in a cool, dry place and out of direct sunlight. For the most efficacy we recommend using your products within 12 months of opening.
Where are your products grown and manufactured?
From growing and harvesting to formulation and packaging, all of our products are created in the Bay Area. Our natural skincare line is largely informed by Sonoma grown herbs. All products are formulated and packaged by Free + True staff at our Walnut Creek facilities. Creating incredible skincare is our passion, and we love every part of the process! That is why we simply do not outsource any element of formulation or production processes.
What is your ingredient philosophy?
We are total plant geeks. We believe that creating 100% natural skincare requires equal parts science, intuition and creativity. Our layered extraction technique ensures that botanical actives are harvested at their most effective moment, for the best possible results. Keeping our formulas simple and plant based allows a higher concentration of active botanical ingredients to work with skin, rather than against it.
We partner with leading chemists, herbalists and aromatherapists to use ethically sourced botanicals and gentle active ingredients. The result is gentle yet powerful skincare containing clean ingredients scientifically proven to balance skin.
We use organic plants, cold pressed oils, distillates and food grade preservation systems whenever possible. Each botanical ingredient is selected with intention and purpose to best serve your skin and overall health.
Do all of your ingredients carry organic certification?
At this time we are not certified organic, but we work diligently to source organic ingredients whenever possible. Organic ingredients are identified by an asterisk in the ingredient deck.
Where do you source your honey?
Our founder, Tami Blake, is a backyard bee keeper. Our honey is sourced from her hives where maintaining the health and wellbeing of her bees it the utmost priority.
Are your products cruelty free? Do you test on animals?
100% cruelty free. We do not test on animals. We firmly believe in the safety of our formulas and thoroughly test our products on ourselves before conducting rigorous clinical testing.
Are your products vegan?
All of our product are vegan with the exception of Raw + Wild Illuminating Honey Mask. It contains raw organic honey and pearl powder. We source our honey locally from reputable bee farms. In fact, our inspiration for creating Raw + Wild was to protect our most sacred pollinator the honey bee. Food security depends on a thriving bee population. We are committed to creating and supporting the ecosystems that allow them to thrive. That is why we donate a percentage of the sales of our Raw + Wild Honey Mask to NGOs working on saving the bees.
Is your collection safe for pregnant women and children?
Our collection was formulated to be safely used by pregnant women. However, we recommend consulting your physician.
Where can I procure samples?
Product samples are tucked in with every order. If there is a particular product that you’d like to sample, please inform us in the order notes.
