What it does
Built from the lipids skin actually uses.
Most rich moisturizers are rich because of the oils in them. This one is built around the three things the skin barrier is genuinely made of — ceramides, cholesterol and fatty acids — in the proportions it uses them.
That is the difference between a cream that sits on top feeling nice and one that gives the barrier its missing pieces back.
What you’ll notice
- Skin stops feeling tight by the end of the day
- Less visible redness
- Hydration that holds overnight
- Skin that tolerates actives better
- A calmer, more even-looking complexion
Consumer study
Forty days with Balanced Being
Skin appears more hydrated, more even and visibly calm after forty days.
92%
said their skin felt more hydrated
86%
said their skin looked more even, with less visible redness
Based on a forty-day consumer self-assessment study.
The formula
Ceramides, cholesterol, fatty acids.
The line needed a true barrier-support cream rather than another rich moisturizer. That meant building it around the lipids the barrier actually relies on — plus 4% niacinamide for the days when skin looks red or stressed.
Ceramides NP, AP + EOP
Three ceramides rather than one. They reinforce the skin barrier and support moisture retention — and they are the reason this cream behaves differently from a rich moisturizer.
Phytosphingosine + Cholesterol
Barrier lipids that complement the skin’s own structure. Ceramides on their own are only part of the picture; these complete it.
Saccharide Isomerate
A plant-derived humectant that binds to skin and supports long-lasting hydration rather than a short-lived surface effect.
Plum Seed Oil
Softens and nourishes — and contributes the naturally sweet, marzipan-like scent. There is no added fragrance in the formula.
How to use
As much as your skin asks for.
Apply to clean skin as needed, morning or evening. Use a richer layer at night when skin feels depleted or compromised.
-
DaytimeA thin layer
Apply to clean skin after your serums. Enough to feel comfortable, not enough to sit on the surface.
-
NightA richer layer
Use more generously when skin feels depleted or compromised. This is when the ceramides have time to work.
-
Before activesBuild a base first
Use it on its own for a week or two before introducing a new retinoid or acid. Strong actives go better onto a barrier that is already steady.
Founder note
A note from Tami
“I knew the line needed a true barrier-support cream, not just another rich moisturizer. For me, that meant building it around the lipids the skin barrier actually relies on: ceramides, cholesterol and fatty acids.
I added 4% niacinamide for extra support when skin looks red or stressed. Balanced Being is the moisturizer I reach for when skin is acne-prone, reactive, overworked, or simply needs help getting back to baseline.”

Questions
Good to know
What is the difference between this and Mama Pacha?
Mama Pacha is a nourishing cream for comfort and richness. Balanced Being is a barrier cream — built around ceramides, cholesterol and fatty acids for skin that is reactive, over-treated or struggling to hold moisture.
Is it too rich for oily skin?
Not necessarily. Acne-prone and reactive skin is often barrier-compromised. Use a thinner layer and see how it settles.
Can I use it with retinoids and acids?
Yes, and it is one of the better things to use alongside them. It goes on last, and it is what makes a corrective routine easier to tolerate.
Morning or night?
Either. A thinner layer in the morning, a richer one at night when skin feels depleted.
What does 4% niacinamide do here?
It supports barrier function and helps with the look of redness and uneven tone — at a level that stays comfortable on reactive skin.
Where does the almond-like scent come from?
Plum seed oil. There is no added fragrance in the formula.
