How it works
The natural alternative to needles.
Gua sha comes from traditional Chinese medicine: a flat polished stone drawn over the skin in slow, deliberate strokes to relax stiff muscles, firm the skin and move fluid that has nowhere else to go.
This stone was shaped for the face. The combed edge creates gentle friction to soften lines; the two U-shaped curves fit the jaw and cheekbone for contouring; the raked edge reaches into the muscle for lifting. With practice, two or three times a week, it changes how your face holds itself.
What you'll notice
- A more defined jaw and cheekbone
- Less puffiness, especially in the morning
- Softer lines along the forehead and around the eyes
- Tension gone from jaw and brow
How to use
Slow strokes, upward and outward.
Watch the tutorial once, then it becomes second nature. Always over a face oil.
-
Step onePrep
Cleanse, then press three or four drops of Freedom Fighter over face and neck so the stone glides.
-
Step twoOpen the neck
Long strokes down the sides of the neck with the U-shaped edge, five times each side, to clear the way for drainage.
-
Step threeJaw and cheeks
Hold the stone almost flat. Chin to ear along the jaw; nose to temple across the cheek. Five slow strokes, finishing each with a gentle wiggle at the hairline.
-
Step fourBrow, eyes and forehead
The combed edge from brow to hairline; the small curve under the eye, very lightly, outward. Finish with a few strokes back down the neck.
Pressure
Light enough that the skin does not redden more than a soft flush. Gua sha is slow and patient, not vigorous.
Questions
Good to know
What comes in the box?
The stone, a felt protective case, a 5 ml sample of Freedom Fighter Antioxidant Face Oil and a link to our video tutorial.
Which edge does what?
Combed edge: fine lines. U-shaped edges: jaw and cheekbone contouring. Raked edge: deeper muscle work and lifting.
How often?
Two or three times a week is plenty. Consistency matters more than length — five minutes done regularly beats a long session once a month.
Why white jade?
It is dense, smooth and holds a cool temperature well. Traditionally it is the stone of calm and purification — and each piece has its own veining, so no two are alike.
Can I use it with actives?
Skip gua sha on nights you use Moment of Clarity or a retinoid. Over a plain oil is ideal.
